All praises be to Allah. The year has gone by quickly and we are blessed to have Ramadan upon us once again. As we break our fasts and enjoy our meals with friends and family, there are many who don’t have this privilege. As we all know, it is through fasting that the servant of Allah (swt) is better able to understand the plight and trial of the hungry throughout the world. 1.) log on to http://www.pledgie.com/campaigns/12624 or click the icon located on the right to make your pledge or donation.

2.) Bring check or money order to the Worcester Islamic Center and either place them in one of the donation boxes or hand them to brother Ahmad Attia or brother Tawfeeque.

Please make your checks payable to The Worcester Islamic Center and include Iftar Donation on the memo line.

The Worcester Islamic Center is pleased to announced the start of the month of Ramadan. 

The moon has been sighted and the first day of Ramadan will be Wednesday, August 11, 2010.

Please remember that Wednesday is the first day of fasting and that the first Taraweeh prayers (Ramadan night prayer) will be held tonight – Tuesday, August 10th at 9:30 PM.

Sheets with information regarding the daily imsak and iftar times will be available in the masjid this evening and they are also available for download on our website.

We would like to wish the entire community at large a Ramadan Mubarak.  May you all have a blessed Ramadan that is full of guidance, piety, and righteousness.

Iftar and delicious dinner will be available every day for the entire community inshaAllah. Please bring your family and friends to the WIC everyday to break your fast.

The Worcester Islamic Center acknowledges that there are several valid opinions of Fiqh when it comes to moon sighting. Morevover, the WIC understands that the majority of mosques and Islamic centers across the country use the sighting of the moon in Makkah as a tool to confirm the month of Dhul Hijjah. Therefore for the sake of unity and consistency the WIC has decided to continue its practice of confirming the beginning and the end of the month of Ramadan using the sighting of the moon in Makkah. While doing so, the WIC respects the decisions of all mosques and Islamic centers across the country and wishes everyone a blessed Ramadan.
