I’tikaf and Young Men’s Qiyaam

Young Muslims of the Worcester Islamic Center are proud to bring you an I’tikaf even better than the last!

This event is strictly limited to young teenage men 13 and older. There will be many fun events such as sport tournaments, movies, food, and a brotherly get together where we discuss a few of the issues plaguing our generation and how we can strengthen our Islamic identity in this time. There will also be Qiyaam al Layl and a light breakfast.

There will be a fee of 5 dollars to pay for food and other necessities, and all minors will be required to agree to a waiver.

There will be a youth forum organized by Young Muslims on Saturday, January 29, 2011 between Maghrib and Isha prayers. The guest speaker will be Nancy Khalil, the Muslim chaplain in the office of religious and spiritual life at Wellesley College and youth director for the Muslim American Society of Boston. Ages 13 and older only please. In this Forum, we will discuss ways to better utilize our opportunites as Muslim youth in the west and how to be more active in the community.

There will be a Fundraising Basketball Tournament for Pakistan and Haiti this coming Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 2:00-4:30 pm. Please bring money to buy snacks and drinks sold to help raise money for the league.  Water will be available for players during games. Spectators are welcome!

Requirements:
Ages:  10-15 years old.
Roster:  7-10 players per team.
Fee:  $20 per player and all will be donated.

Prizes:
The winning team will get t-shirts and medals along with an MVP plaque.

Registration:
A designated team captain must register their team by Thursday 1/6. Rosters must be e-mailed to rodneyjean2000@hotmail.com so that the tournament bracket can be set prior to start time.
